Lev Gutovsky, the leader of New Art Ensemble so defines the compositions of the end of 1980-1990s: "These are electronic improvisations on hard dramaturgic basis with some propensity to mental disorders and boundary conditions". "Portable orchestra of major Brown" (1988) is a bright manifestation of art strategy of the ensemble.

NAE given birth in bowels of an aesthetics of postmodernism considers spiritual space of the end of XX century as a certain superintense crossroads where everything was already told and is the citation, and own music can arise in small intervals between a heap of quotation marks and citations. Performers realize themselves as organizers of these quotes. Melodies of The Beatles and free jazz, songs of the Soviet composers, a classical rock-and-roll and psychobilly, industrial noise in spirit of Einstuerzende Neubauten and Etka-Enka, etc. peacefully gets on in a musical texture of performance, due to taste, talent, imagination and humour of musicians.

"Portable Orchestra of Major Brown" gives rise to various associations. NAE's performance will remind to somebody of travelling circus, to somebody of dancing evening in a madhouse, and to somebody of the creative report on amateur performances in a concentration camp, in any case it will not be boring.

In gallery the television variant (TV program "Exotic", RTR, 1992) will be shown. Duration -- 50 minutes. Lev Gutovsky will attend the demonstration.

NAE, the NEW ART ENSEMBLE was created by Lev Gutovsky and Alexander Soha in Chelyabinsk in 1987. It works in the field of electro-acoustic music, combining computer technics with live instruments and vocal.
