Julia BIEN (Bezshtanko).
Press Release Contemporary art gallery
"OkNo" March 24 - April 23, 2005 On March 23 contemporary art gallery "OkNo" opens its new space and presents the first personal exhibition by young artist Julia Bien (Bezshtanko). Julia graduated from the Chelyabinsk Art School (1994) and State Academy of Theatre Art / Faculty of Scenography and Theatre Technologies (St. Petersburg), 2003. Julia's sphere of interests cover as traditional kinds of art -- painting, graphics, sculpture so new forms -- objects, installations, performances. The unusual name of exhibition was not invented and reproduces literally a concept being considered in physics. From the artists point of view namely this concept reflects exactly the problem that is interesting for her. It is disclosure of boundaries of visible phenomena existing in consciousness and in perception of an individual. One may note that this problem is actual over all history of art. Its brightest solutions are presented by original directions of art of 20th century. Solving the problem is akin to proving Ferma's theorem in mathematics. But audience will not collide with some abstruse theorizing of the author. That is not a cause for trouble. Many works were carried out in habitual aesthetics of plastic arts. On the exhibition you can see graphic sheets of watercolor technique, collages from scorched paper, sculptures and objects made from syntepon, wire, silicone and shoes. Opening day -- March 23 at 18.30 Working time: Gallery address: 79A, Sonya Krivaya St. OkNo Gallery in Internet: http://www.oknogallery.ru/ Art Director -- Svetlana
