Nataliya Velykanova Press release Contemporary art gallery "OkNo" Nataliya Velykanova April 16 - May 4, 2012 Nataliya Velykanova is an artist working with various aspects of the internal undercover life of a person. In the project "intomyself" she reflects "on a moral condition, imaginations, dreams, disappointments of a person living in information chaos, illusions and superficiality of the society". The artist considers the existence as dialogue between the person and the world. The dialogic principle becomes the starting point for artistic conception of N. Velikanova. According to it, the person finds his own essence, absorbing common to all mankind, comparing yourself to other people. Complexity and multidimensionality of dialogue carried out by heroes is found out in system of spatio-plastic constructions of the graphic sheets. "Air" of a white sheet is stratified on set of measurements. The image of the person is often overlapped by elements of letter or digital texts, ornamental styles or archaic characters, which sometimes absorb it, transforming in a shadow. Through this technique, it becomes obvious: the search for senses and approval of the value of life are given to a man huge stress of spiritual and intellectual forces. Graphic works of the project "intomyself" are executed in stylisticsof graffiti. Expressive means of the art, "living exclusively in the city environment, with its own "handwriting"of a randomness and the spontaneity, created by many and different people, with its strange inscriptions, signs, stratifications and its unique rhythm organizing all this chaos and giving to it a certain integrity", most precisely reflect, in opinion of the author, idea of the project.
