Actual artists and art practices of 1980-1990 on Ural. Digest Press release Contemporary art gallery "OkNo", supported by Ford Foundation present the exhibition Oleg Elovoy. Comeback New exhibition within the framework of the program " Actual artists and art practices of 1980-1990 on Ural. Digest" is dedicated to Oleg Elovoy (1967-2001). The painter, art action maker, collector of modern naive art and founder of unique Museum of simple art of Ural and Siberia, Oleg Elovoy "has played" a prominent and important role on art stage of Sverdlovsk-Ekaterinburg of the end of 1980-90. More precisely putting, he has not played, but has lived naturally, "simply" (a key word for his vital strategy), and whole-heartedly. During 1990th years the range of artist activity of Elovoy is paradoxically wide: from "writing" of canonical icons for orthodox temples and/or lapidary neoprimitive pictures to participation in performances "reanimated" lifeless industrial landscapes and creations of installations from desacralizated subjects in profanity and risky spaces (e.g. night club "Hatch" in Ekaterinburg). The retrospective exposition offers a sight simultaneously "outside" and "from within" on creativity and the personality of Elovoy, combining artworks of the artist and the documentary materials associated with his life. Some conditional blocks represent various art practices of Oleg Elovoy, among them there are the traditional painting (works executed in oil technics from Victor Davydov's and Galina Teske's collections), photo documentation of his early performances "Conservation of winter", "Vinyl forever", and a product of video art with Oleg's participation, and also well-known photo project "Moving of the artist" (in collaboration with Dmitry Kunilov) devoted to the compelled farewell of Elovoy with the House that became a component of the artist's life. The important part of the exposition is also the set of archival photos given by Victor Davidov and Kseniya Pol', friends of Oleg Elovoy.Curators: Tamara Galeeva, Dar'ya Kostina (Ekaterinburg) The exibition will be opened for public for February 11-26, 2010.
